A very basic guide to seamless tiling
« on: January 03, 2017, 11:25:39 AM »
to make your pattern seamless..first know the dimensions of your document for this sample i used 600x600
and make sure you have your item grouped.

then get the transform panel up .If it isnt showing go  View/studio/transform

i have placed the heart over the bottom edge  the number i want to work with is the Y setting in the transform box
it was something like 452.8 or something like that i changed it  to an easy number  450

this is your heart position .... once you have an easy number to work with....

right click your heart and Copy

right click your heart and  Paste

now you need to find out   what 600 (the doc)  minus  450 (heart position is) = minus 150

place the Minus number in the Y position you get this .....

the same goes for  the horizontals  use the X settings this time
make the position of your item an easy number to work with...copy and paste
then enter the minus - number in the X box

Thats it .
i dont know  why it is a minus - number  that works but it does ...
hope this helps   so  we get to see your fabulous seamless  patterns.

Teejay that is very well explained it should make it easy for anybody to follow. That is something I did remember but I going to save it in case my memory lapse which I am sure it will.

By the way you made it sound so simple than when we had to follow the tutorial.

Ah...this is very similar to how the "Offset" filter works in PSP or PS...great to know how to do it without the filter in AD. Thanks Teejay.
