« on: January 19, 2018, 02:56:23 am »

Did you move the rotation point down?

there is a weirdness about Ctrl j
this is how it worked for me.

try these steps .

make your shape
move the rotation point
ctrl J   (no clicking anywhere yet)
In the transform tool enter 360/18  (the forward stroke makes it dived your number)
Now click once on your top shape  (this is the ctrl copy shape you set up in the step before)
it will jump to the first rotation position... no more clicking
just   ctrl J  for the copies

let me know

Yes, I had some problems with this step as well.  Here is step by step how I solved it to work for me.  Almost like teejays but ....
1. make the shape
2. move rotation point down
3. do ctrl+J without touching anything
4. go down to the transform panel and type in 20.....or18.... in the "R" box and hit enter
5. then ctrl+J until you have the desired number of petals.

I think what was messing me up was the 360/18. When I tried to do all that it just wouldn't work for me.....hence all the stopping and starting I was doing at first.  Doing it this way....for me anyway....did the trick.

Not working for me Teejay and Linda. . Entering ctrl j it duplicates and rotates but after that using ctrl just duplicates not rotates.

I can think of only one thing to check

when you have made your shape and moved the rotation point and ctrlJ
and put in your transform rotation number

after you click one time on the shape ..
and  before you use ctrlj to repeat the copy....... is your top layer active like mine.

Well, it was the only thing that finally worked for me. I was about to holler "uncle" and I tried that step and voila....it worked.  I have no idea if it is an aberration or not . I even went back time and again to the video and stopped and started it to see exactly what I was missing....and when I typed that in I could suddenly replicate. Without that I was having the same problem as Nicky. Go figure?

I found that if I didn't do this in the correct order the rotate wouldn't work.

Try duplicating the petal (CTL & J) keep it activated but don't move it.  Then enter 20 degrees in the transform box and immediately press the enter key on the keyboard to confirm the setting, then the petal should rotate. Continue to press the CTL & J to get the amount of petals required.

I've just tried it again and it works if it's done in that order Teejay.
