SIGGIES - PLEASE READ
« on: February 19, 2016, 05:20:41 pm »
It was brought to my attention that some of the siggies are considerably over-sized.  It is, and always has been our policy to keep them small.

In 2008, we decided that Your signature graphic must not exceed a total of 350 pixels when you add the length and width together. It is also limited to a total of two lines.

This information is also posted in the General forum but I realize that a lot of people don't read stuff like that.

So, please check your siggies and make sure they fit within the allocated size.    Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.   :thanks06:

I read it....and I think I understand it, but the "two lines" bit confuses me.  Is my current sig within the two lines specification? Sorry I am a bit thick on this.

Mostly that is to prevent advertising.  Two lines of text is the limit.  Or one sig and one line of text beneath it like MaryLou has and I sometimes do.

Well OK, then I guess my current one is kosher then.  Thanks Leenie.

Why not put the tag line beneath the image?

Linda, yours is perfect!  Your siggie is line 1 and the image is only 290 pixels total and you have one line of text.  The text doesn't count as part of the image size.

Some people in the past have put a 3-4 line "message" as their siggie... maybe a biblical quote or a political thing or a product advertisement. Thus, the two line limit.  I probably should include how many total characters that can be but it hasn't been a problem for quite a while so, will leave it as is.

The reasoning behind the signature size is, this is a graphic forum and when siggies are huge, they can be mistaken for the graphic. I've been to some forums where the siggie takes the entire message space and a two word comment.

My other option was to set the software to allow a siggie on the first post in a thread only.  Didn't really like that idea and felt that setting size limits was a better option.  We all like our names to be seen... even me!

I love your new one!!!  Very cute! :yes01:

Thanks for the clarification MaryLou and Leenie, you too.  I am not new to forums....but each one has their protocols, so after reading your initial post I began to look closer at what I had. Thus the questions.  I don't want to make waves.  :blackcat:`
