IMAGE SIZE FOR POSTING
« on: August 09, 2017, 12:43:44 pm »
Since we have a number of new folks here, it's a good time to go over the image size for posting an image.

Since we are a graphic board, and virtually every post has a graphic attached, we need to keep our file sizes down to a reasonable size for two reasons.  First, we do not have unlimited space and second, the large images slow the board down considerable for some because they take a longer time to load.  If you have your image on another site and are linking to the image, size doesn't matter, but it does when uploading the image.

Bottom line is, an image may not be larger than 800 pixels on the longest size.  When saving your image to post on the board in AD or AP, go to File\Export.  You will get the following window:

The Size window will show the size of your entire document with the background included.  If that's what you want to save, you only need to make sure that the longest size is 800.

If you are saving just what is selected, then select the Area: Without background first.  That will show you the actual size of what you are saving.  If one size is larger than 800, just change it and the other value will change automatically as long as the lock is locked.

You can also use the Transform tab to change the image size but you may want to keep the original size so I would suggest that you only change it on the image as you output it for use on the board.

I hope this clarifies the image size. If not... just ask.   :thanks02:

Keep on smiling! It will make people wonder what you're up to!! :)
