I am perplexed. I looked at the YouTube for the November Bonus Text Workshop project. In this tutorial AP has a Pen Tool. I don't have a Pen Tool in my AP! What is going on here? Anybody know?
-
I have a pen tool - It is "hidden" but you can see here in my version of AP
-
same here my pen is hidden under the node tool
-
Thank you, Majse and Teejay.
I thought I had thoroughly searched all of the pop outs, but I had missed seeing it with the Node Tool.
By the way, it's not hidden on my AP now. I don't know what I did, but the Pen Tool now shows and the Node Tool is the hidden partner!
-
As long as it works. I am glad you have it
-
I'm going to check and see if I can have both the Node Tool and the Pen Tool show. It's really stupid to have only one of these readily and immediately available.
-
If you find a way please tell
-
I found a way!
Go to View - Customize Tools (it's down at the bottom of the list) and find, select, and drag the Pen Tool to the Tool Bar. Do the same with the Node Tool. You end up with both the original icon where they share space and individual Pen and Node Tools, which are much easier to work with.

wow that is so cool thanks Lynn
-
I think the icon stays on the last tool used Lynn.
-
I also looked for the Transparency Tool to add to the Tools, but I couldn't find it. Darn!
One thing on this text painting tutorial I couldn't follow. He or she would draw a shape with the Pen Tool, and then they would click on Selection up at the top and the shape would become a selection they could paint in. So, what tool were they using that had that Selection option?
I ended up making the layer a selection, which worked.
-
Thanks Lynn
-
Lynn they used the keyboard short cut to make that selection
the made a selection of the things on the layer Ctrl+Shift+O ,, I think.
-
I would never have thought of that, Teejay! I only use a few shortcuts--and never any that require 3 keys!
-
her curser never moved from the layers panel ...but I would have chosen to go to the select menu and pick selection from layer ...
(I think that's what it was called) :smiley01:

A tutorial author should know better than to use a shortcut in a video. Nobody can see what action is being taken.
-
i totally agree .

Thanks for the tip

You're welcome, Nicky.
