Title: PIRC Site Update
Post by: MaryLou on November 10, 2017, 07:54:55 pm
I've been really busy working on my PIRC site and have made good progress.  I still have two areas under construction but they will, hopefully, be done before the end of the year.

Would appreciate any link checks and such or comments if you see something that needs to be fixed. Sometimes, when you're in the forest, you can't see it for the trees.  That's me in my web site!  Opinions are always welcome.

If you've been there recently, you may want to delete your browser cache or use a different browser so you're assured of getting the new stuff. :thumb3:

well i could live there forever i  LOVE it ... it is so easy to navigate and fun with all the page buttons and lovely images
i found two things

one was on the home page
where you say we can  sing up to pirc   * ( as eddie pointed out I misspelled  sign)

you said blow instead of below...it will get quite gusty if we all did that i think...

and the other thing was your last vector is a window but named Tea set.

that was it  though everything runs soooooooooooo smoothly.

Thanks for finding the booboos, Teejay!!  I will fix them today!!  I found it pretty easy to find your way around.   Where I have the shoe and hat on the first page - that will be Thanksgiving images as soon as I upload again.  I'm reserving that area for seasonal stuff.

Have not yet decided how to present the styles and brushes.  Have a few ideas but still thinking about it.   I noticed that my page counters aren't working.  Maybe I didn't upload the final pages.

Again, thanks for the site check!!

A fabulous looking site MaryLou, clear, concise and very easy to navigate.  I love the layout of your pages and the "start here" on the tutorial page, neat idea.  :clap2:

Thanks Sheryl!  Glad you liked my little "Start Here".   I did that because when you click on the top link, you get the "intro" page and I don't need a button for that but was concerned that people might think the intro page was page 1.   This should eliminate any confusion.. I hope!!

Would love to get to the rest of the stuff but I have some other things to take care of that have a higher priority.  Have let them slide for the last few days but...  time to get the real-life stuff done!    :blackcat:

Well, it's lovely MaryLou and a real treat to visit, fun but polished too. Thanks for adding a link to my site.

I must do some more work on my site too. Not going to over-think it...just keep it simple. Thinking of writing up a brief tutorial on how to paint a Pinecone, seeing as a couple of members asked for one. I could add it to the tutorial page.

Thank you, ladies!  It's somewhat different from what I normally do.  I sort of stepped out of my comfort zone with those colors!  Almost went with the blues but something in my brain said "go for it" and there are no blues at all!!

I think it's very simple to navigate - just click the buttons.  It is aimed at new users  so I will put install instructions on the brushes and styles when I get to them.  Might consider adding a "tips" page at some point.   It's something I can work on over time and there's lots of room to grow.

I am doing it in WebPlus, which I've grown to really like.  It's too bad they discontinued it. :(

Just did another update at http://pircnet.com.  I added a page with some styles.  You guys probably already have them because I think I uploaded them here in the past. Spent most of the day "tweaking"  (not twerking) with little things to make sure things were nicely aligned and easy to read.  Still need to make a new banner for PIRC but that will come when I have nothing else to do.

If anyone has time, would appreciate another visual checkout.  Be sure to empty your cache first though or you might pull up old pages.

WebPlus is pretty nice for making web pages but it has a few "quirks".   I had two pages that had a little "bounce" in them when you switched from one page to the next.  That should not happen because I am using a master page.   Ended up deleting the page, making a clone from one that I know worked as it should, then put all the data back on the page.  That cured the problem.

I still have to add brushes when time allows.  Would like to add a page of tips too.

I took a peek MaryLou and it looks great!  I had not downloaded the styles so I did snag the felt styles and it worked great!  Thanks!

Thanks for checking things out, Linda!!   You're welcome to download whatever you want and glad you liked the felt.  I use  those a lot.  I hope to add a whole lot more - I have tons of them in my files.

When one is working on something like that, we sometimes can't see what's right in front of us so it's good to have others take a look.  Critique is good because we all want our websites to look the best they can be.

Thanks,Nicky!   It's definitely colorful and very out of character for me.  However, I do like the format, it is so easy to navigate and to expand as needed.

I hope to add more vectors but need to get the brushes section going first.  It's a goo site for beginners and refreshers.   :thanks07:

Thanks for checking, Linda and for your nice comments!!   I am really pleased with this site - looking forward to finding the time to finish it!!  I have it set up so I can change the graphic in the upper left corner to one appropriate for the holiday or season and it will appear on every page.  Am trying to decide what I want there for December! :bluebiker:

Thanks Teejay!  I'm going to pop up the one for Thanksgiving maybe tomorrow..  I only have to change two graphics on the master and can do the same for the holidays too although I may change to a Christmas background.  I love the one I use here but it may clash in the color department. Will have to check that out.

Took a while to figure out how I wanted to display the styles - now I"m trying to figure out what I want to do with my brushes.  You should put your styles on your web site for sharing.  You have some really good ones!!  :girl1:
