Title: Cannot open after using Beta in the AD
Post by: San on January 27, 2019, 01:06:16 pm
I did Challenge 082 in the A D  Beta software but then I cannot open it in original A D  which I bought has anybody else had this problem.

I did find this in the forum  if you go HERE (https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/74302-new-version-can-not-be-opened/http://).

So  does this means you have to buy the A D Beta if you keep working with it as you will not be able to open anything in the older versions.

San, it is normal that a drawing created in the Beta version no longer opens in the current version, as the latter does not have the new features added to the Beta, so it cannot process this type of file.

You must therefore open your drawing with the Beta version.

The same applies to a drawing created in the current version and then modified in the Beta version: it will then only open in the Beta.

If you want to make changes (with the Beta version) on a drawing created with the current version, it is advisable to make a backup copy of this drawing beforehand, if only to avoid losing it in case of a problem with the Beta (which is used to test the new version and is likely to have problems).

San, I just saw the change you made to your message.

You do not have to buy the Beta, you have already paid for the current version and this payment gives you the right to test the Beta. People who do not have a license for the current version do not have access to the Beta.

As I said in my previous message, you must be careful not to modify the files of the current version with the Beta, because if they open properly in it, the opposite is impossible.

which means once it is through testing it will be free to us
but if its going to be a new version....i have no idea .

Rege I know that we do not buy the Beta version but what I am saying is anything you make in the Beta version and when AD1.7 comes out ready for sale you would have to buy it so you can open anything you have made in the Beta version as it will not open in the version AD1.6 that you have already bought.

Just hope it is just an update but they must be due to bring up a new version soon and this could be it.

San, what you create in the Beta version will of course open in version 1.7. This update to 1.7 will be free, as the following ones until version 2.0 which will be charged.

So, if you do not intend to buy version 2.0 when the time comes, you should not use the Beta version of this version 2.0 otherwise you will be able to open your files created later.

For the moment we are still very far from version 2.0, I'm afraid. So you can create with Beta 1.7, 1.8 and 1.9.

:thanks02:  Rege now I will keep creating in AD1.7 beta knowing it is not going to be the new version I most probably will buy it anyrate.

I am just use to opening in any versions with other software  that I have on my computer as they bring out a new version.

You will be able to take advantage of the latest functions available for the creation of the drawings you regularly offer us!

I created an image using the beta version and it cannot be opened in 1.7.  I thought that strange since I only used two of the shape presets and none of the new features.

I will continue to use the beta because it will always be able to read the older files but the older versions won't be able to read files created in the beta or latest version.  That makes sense.  I like the beta because it opens faster! :yes04: :cheergirl: :cheergirl:
