Pen tool - the end of the line/the cap?
« on: May 28, 2018, 06:49:21 AM »
I have had this problem before so now I'll ask. I have tried to click different options when I use the pen tool- But there is always an "end" round or one of the others. But it looks like you can choose to have no shape in the end - not one of the "caps" ?

I hope you understand my question

I can't reproduce that. By setting "Course" to "Butt Cap" and setting "Mitre" to remove the ripped effect, I don't get the rounded end, but I guess you've already tried it.

Somehow it worked - thanks again, Rege

When I made the octopus I was using the eraser-tool. I can't keep doing that  :lol05:

I just used the Round End and the curved it with the Node Tool.

Lynn, Majse didn't want just one rounded end, which she always got.

Well, then I don't understand what she wants.

Apparently Majse wanted the end of his line to be a straight line and not a curve.

Kind of both - sometimes round and sometimes not. But I often ended with the little round and couldn't change it. And I couldn't figure out why and what I did wrong

Thank you both  :thanks02:

The single lines I draw with the Pen Tool in Smart Mode are always straight to start with.

I use the smart tool mode because you told me about it, Lynn. But sometimes the end was round and pointed a little to the side. I guess I can't change it when I have made it but have to decide before I start drawing. Get it right from start

mmmmmmmmm I have just been playing around with this
and with my AD
when i use the smart mode after i apply a profile to the line i can no longer change the cap
BUT  if you use Pen mode even after a profile is added you can change the cap.

try it majse
try using the pen mode instead of smart mode.
draw a line, add a profile then change the caps.

Teejay,

I have drawn two straight lines, one in Pen Mode and the other in Smart Mode. I applied a Profile to both of them. Then I changed the end caps. I found I could change the end caps for both lines. No difference at all in their behavior. They looked exactly the same.

I wonder why you encountered a problem changing the end caps for a Smart Mode line with a Profile? Weird!

Lynn, I did the same thing you did and got the same results on both lines.  Was able to change the ends, etc.  The only time I got a curve is if I clicked that last node just slightly to the right but I moved it back with the node tool.  Maybe I missed something?

Keep on smiling! It will make people wonder what you're up to!! :)
