I am not allowed to create a new document in the Affinity programs. Yesterday it worked but not today.

I confess I don't understand what numerical lock you're talking about, is it the "shift lock" key or something else? For me the creation of a new document is possible in lower or upper case, so I guess it's something else.

I use the Num Lock key when I writing numbers. It works for the numbers on the right side of my keyboard. If it is off, the keys do not work.
and to write the size of a newly created document, I need to use numbers.

Jette,  thanks for the accuracy, I proceed in the same way and this key is never locked, except by a typing error, like what must have happened to you.
I just tried it and realized that when this key is locked, the 8, 4, 6, and 2 keys on the numeric keypad then have the same functions as the Up, Left, Right, and Down arrows. As I have the arrows on the keyboard, I didn't realize this.
Thanks to you I will have learned something else today!  :yes04:
