add doesn't work Jette

When I need to add the layers, it doesn't work every time. I have 2 layers that I add and then I lose part of the unicorn like here:


Is there anything I can do

Jette, AD sometimes has weird reactions! I've just tried several times and couldn't reproduce the problem.
Maybe you could provide the file for people to take a look at.
Maybe a restart of AD would solve the problem.

is the Hair layer  made with a pen or pencil if yes
you first need to  go Layer/Expand stroke
then use the add function

let us know  how you get on

i use pencil tool and i have Expand Stroke, but it does not work. It is the same in Affinity Photo

no matter what I did, it didn't work. But then I exported to svg for web, opened the file again in AF and now I could add and save as Affinity.

Jette, I'm glad you found a solution.
I had first thought of "Expand stroke" but on the screenshot you can see that it has been applied.
Then I thought it was an error caused by smart nodes but it worked when I tried it out.
Another track was one of the shapes with an open curve (I remember seeing on the official forum a case in which AD had generated by itself a kind of zig-zag visible only with a very very high zoom on a small portion of the curve) but even in this case the operation worked well when I tried to reproduce it.
