I am not at all familiar with the "Pixel Persona", I just did a test drive, I don't know if it suits you.
Select the area to be modified with one of the selection tools, take "Flood Fill Tool", choose the color and click on the selection (marching ants).
I am sure you will have other more useful answers from other people.e.
Windows 10 ; Affinity Designer

i use adjustments and choose recolour
if you have different shades  and you use the recolour you still retain the contrasts
i changed mine from red with a mix of deep red to blue

another option i sometimes use in the adjustments is selective colour and also vibrancy...
and i use the brightness and contrast a lot on my images it gives shadows a really nice look

you can use a bitmap to colour your pixel layer
draw out a shape and fill it with a bitmap in the vector persona then drag that bitmap into the pixel layer

I do pretty much as Teejay does when I need to do a color change.  As I am making what ever picture or character I am working on I most always do a duplicate of the item and hide it before I do anything to it....brushwork or something that will change it to a pixel layer.  Then, if I decide it needs to be changed I can go back and find the original item....duplicate it again and hide....and make whatever changes needed.  Makes for a very large and sometime unwieldy piece but it has saved me more than a few times when a real change was needed.  In addition to what tee has mentioned I also use curves a good deal if I need to make an item darker, or conversely...sometimes lighter.  Not a color change but sometimes it is all I need to make it look "right" to me.

You have been assigned this mountain to show others it can be moved.
