Curve/Swirl...Grethe
« on: March 11, 2020, 04:11:00 AM »
I can't remember how we made the perfect swirl!
Something like image below. This one is dated June30 2016 (perhaps in AD Beta), but since then I've moved things around.

Unless I am mistaken, this cannot be done directly in AD.
It looks more like something drawn with DrawPlus.

You might be right, Rege! Perhaps it is there I remember doing this.

Grethe,

1/ You can start drawing a spiral with butt joined semi-circles.

2/ Adjust the thickness of the stroke so that it corresponds to the distance between the spirals.

3/ Once the spiral is finished (in my example I have removed a few semi-circles in the centre for the rest of the work), draw a circle of the same diameter as the semi-circle which should end in a point.

4/ Convert this circle into curves and "Break Curve" at the top and bottom, delete the left half (opposite to the future pointed part).

5/ Apply pressure to the remaining half to obtain the point.

6/ Delete the black semicircle under the tip (you can delete it before applying pressure but keeping it provides a reference point for the tip).

7/ Select the set, "Expand Stroke".

8/ With the selected set, do "Add".

9/ Invert the colors and adjust the thickness of the contour.

Grethe, I had fun last night doing something similar to your example with the spiral that I created and then I put some color (a little bit anyhow) . The result is not very happy because I didn't really look for an aesthetic effect!

Certainly a nice tutorial for how to do this feature Rege.  I applaud your knowledge and skill in doing so...however....this is how I look after viewing your latest posting on it   :laugh8:

You have been assigned this mountain to show others it can be moved.
